Lamees Elhassan
Address:
Hyman Lab (Biotechnology Center)
Lamees Elhassan will be isolating, preparing, and sequencing cfDNA from dogs for fragmentomic analysis. She will be working with blood samples from dogs with cancer to determine feasibility of discriminating tumor cfDNA from normal tissue cfDNA based on the size distribution of the fragments. In addition, she will be looking at the use of methylation signatures in the tumor cfDNA to predict what tissue it is derived from. She will be expected to present and explain her results and the ramifications of using this approach in human samples. It’s a tall order and this work may stretch beyond this summer.
