MET Faculty Affiliates Dr. Kristen Malecki and Dr. William Murphy were both recognized for their accomplishments and received WARF Named Professorship Awards for this recently completed round of nominations.
Dr. Malecki, an associate professor in Population Health Sciences, director of the Survey of the Health of Wisconsin, and the co-PI on the MET R25 Summer Research Opportunities Program, received an H.I. Romnes Faculty Fellowship, which provides funding for faculty who are past their initial research support phase, but before mid-career recognition. Her research focuses on environmental stressors and the impacts on health disparities.
Dr. Murphy, a professor of Biomedical Engineering and director of the Forward BIO Institute, received a Kellett Mid-Career Award, which provides needed support and encouragement to mid-career faculty members. His research group utilizes new materials for the manufacture of medical devices, as well as to imitate human cells and human tissues for research purposes.
